Across the Atlantic Ocean and 5,500 miles from Louisville, you’ll find the city of Tamale, Ghana. It’s half a world away, but it feels much closer now than it did in 2008, when KCD students first traveled to Louisville’s sister city of Tamale.
That trip marked the beginning of a wonderful relationship, and student groups have traveled regularly to Tamale since then. This fall, that partnership reached a new milestone as we welcomed students from Tamale’s TISSEC school to KCD for the first time. Our guests were science teacher Mr. Habib Zakaria and TISSEC students Sayibu Ibrahim, Marwa Ali, and Sarafin Azure, and it was a pleasure to welcome them to KCD and to Louisville.
Our guests visited many of the usual local landmarks, but they also spent time visiting classes and making friends with students and teachers. It was truly a great experience to have our friends with us, and we hope to welcome further groups from Tamale in the future.
